The stuff my mom did as she slowly slipped into dementia drove me crazy. I didn't know she had alzheimer's yet. (Woman: How do I get my voicemails off my cellphone?) (Man: Mom- I already told you a million times!!) Like, she was constantly complaining about feeling alone- even as she snubbed people who wanted to be her friends. (Woman 2: Hi! I'm Diane.) (Man: Mom! Stop ignoring her! That's rude.) Now I know: depression and short-term memory loss are early signs of alzheimer's. So I'm patient. Now. (Man: You can't complain about being lonely... guys are always asking you out. You always say no!! Jesus, Mom!!) Why did I need a medical diagnosis to find the ability to be patient and kind? (Woman: I spilled it again) (Man: I'll clean it up. Don't worry, Mom.)
