Born into poverty in 1935, My Mom was ages 5-9 during the Nazi occupation of France. She suffered from severe malnutrition. Throughout her life, the effects of Poor nutrition dogged her health. Like she had terrible teeth (Man: You need another root canal) Now she's 84 and has alzheimer's she falls a lot. Sometimes the fractures are severe. She's so brittle. (Woman: Her hip completely detached from her upper leg) It's like the Nazis are still killing her. We Americans like to pretend that it's possible to shake off the effects of disaster. (Man: So much death, and destruction. But now the rebuilding begins!) We turn away. But the disaster goes on.
