In the future, Politicians will stop trying to persuade voters by using rhetorical arguments. (Man 1: My opponent's tax plan failed when Peru tried it in 1954. Also, she's fat.) Political power will be won by those who are most effective at convincing employers to fire their enemies. (Woman: Making fun of overweight Americans is hate speech!) Any statement, no matter how banal, will elicit howls of carefully manufactured outrage-followed by calls for immediate dismissal. (Man 2: You have a right to your opinion- not to express it where it might be heard. Read or seen.) Since the most eloquent and outspoken voices will be silenced. Only milque-toast punits will survive in the public area. (Man 3: Tragedy is so sad.) The range of publicity acceptable views will narrrow. Eventually vanishing into a quantum singularity. So will come to pass the most terrifying of possible dystopian futures: absolute dictatorship by the utterly bland. (Man 4: Um... hi.) (Man 5: What he said minus the "h" word.)
