8-year-old George W. Bush was deeply moved by his first monster movie. (George Bush: Atomic testing rocks!) Whether the threat was Godzilla, Mothra, or Megalon, the government reaction was always the same. (Man: You are mean military men! Send thanks and bombs! Blast away!) (Man 2: Ok!) So when he grew up, George's first impulse was to use the military for everything. (George Bush: Tsunami? Send in 3 divisions to destroy it!!!) Now we deploy troops against even the most abstract foes: The war against global warming (Voice: We're bombing rising oceans...to bits!) Police actions vs. unfair trade. (Voice 2: Eat death, protection tariffs!) Preemptive strike on underemployment (Man 3: That den of oppressors forced an MFA to work the drive-through!) And the most epic battle of them all... attack on abstraction. (Man 4: Concepts in ruins! Strategies destroyed! Generalizations in flames! A great victory for America!!)
