When the Bush Administration brokered the Afghan peace deal in Bonn, it's choice for prime minister was Hamid Karzai. (Man 1: He's Pashtun, but the northern alliance is Tajik.) (George Bush: Unocal, huh?) Karzai's previous job was as a consultant for unocal oil, planning a trans-Afghan pipeline. When it was time to pick a U.S. special envoy to Karzai's new government, Zalmay Khalilzad got the gig. (Man: He's the best guy for the job. Thank God for unocal!) (George Bush: They hired almost everyone in Afghanistan!) Khalilzad was also a unocal consultant. He also worked on the pipeline. Khalilzad struck a deal in February with pakistan for the southern part of the pipeline. (Man: Just think- if we hadn't "responded" by killing all those Afghans, we wouldn't get all that cheap-oil!) (George Bush: Yeah... just think!) In March, Karzai went to Turkmenistan to close the northern portion.) (Man: I still can't get over 9-11) (George Bush: What a lucky break, huh? I mean, evil doers must catch evil doers.
