If Bush and the Republicans get their way- and who's going to stop them? The wealthy will not only get a big tax cut. Every cent of alternative minimum tax paid over the last 15 years will be refunded. (Man 1: Someday they'll hang us for this. Until then: I'm walking on sunshine... and don't it feel good!) The treasury will write checks for $1.4 billion to IBM and $832 million to GM and $1 billion to Ford- while ordinary Americans are asked to sacrifice for the war effort. (Man 2: I planted a victory garden! Too bad my house got foreclosed upon.) The richest 1% of Americans will get an average of $30,000 each. The bottom 75%? Nothing. In other words, most of us will pay $400 each to the rich. (Man 3: $400?! Where am I supposed to get that?) Fortunately, the Bushies already took care of you. (Man 4: Remember the $300 tax cut? If you'd invested it right, you'd have $400 now.)
