The man was a cartoonists' cartoonist. (Man: Here goes nothing... as usual.) His work was too subtle and complex to catch on with the public, but he made do with the awe of his peers. (Woman: I'm in 1,400 papers, but my work is worthless garbage next to yours.) (Man: Thank you.) More important, he inspired an entire generation of cartoonists who ensured him of an indirect form of immortality. (Man: I lifted your line work, narrative structure and sense of humor for my work.) Unfortunately, they all became cartoonist's cartoonists themselves.) (Man: Here goes nothing.)
