Best Whites During the Vietnam War, being white and well-off meant you got a deferment, bought off the draft board or fled to Canada. (Man 1: So much for Saturday keggers.) That left the right-wing wackjobs who "thought" killing "gooks" on the other side of the planet would stop godless communism. (Man 2: I'll prop up that domino with corpses... anything to save Thailand from the Commies!) Even those soldiers usually understood after they got there that the war was dumb and wrong. (Man 3: I figure it's their country. If the Vietnamese want to be commies, it's their business.) (Man 4: Saigon, Day 2: reality sets in) Most people on the U.S. side spent the war avoiding combat and counting the days until they went home. (Man 5: Pass that doobie or I'll start leading us toward the V.C!) Then there were those who had the time of their lives. All hail: behold the dissembling heroes! (Man 6: You see the senseless murder of parents and children. I see a shiny medal!)
