Bilateral Omission. Equal time is one thing, but we're so obsessed with fairness that we give even the most ludicrous ideas the same olay as the obvious truths. (Man: And for another view of global warming, here's Helen Haines.) (Woman: Thanks, Bob. Not only is global warming not happening, it's actually getting colder!) The result is a media that presents no facts to a nation that takes nothing seriously. (Man 2: It's 142 in the Yukon. This is insane!) (Man 3: No way, dude! Some scientist chick on TV says it's normal.) And what's with this duality thing? We assume that there are always two sides to every issue... two. Not three, not four, not 86- two. Only Americans think this way. (Man 4: Foot fungus: pro or con?) (Man 5: I've never really thought about it.) (Man 5: If we weren't friends, I'd have to report you.) And now: The other side of the story! (Woman: Not only are there always two equally viable points of view for every topic, there can only be exactly two such opinions.)
