Giving America the business: Whenever the government tries to regulate business, Republicans have a standard response. (Man: You can't tell business not to dump toxins into the ocean- that's messing with the free market) Yet the very same corporations rely on government to protect their patents, trademarks and copyrights. (Man 2: Yeah, frankie- some turd is selling a pirated version with his website. Nail his butt with a posse of lawyers.) All laws- including those against murder- are forms of government intrusion into the free market. (Woman: I was strong! He was weak! I wanted his marketshare but he was in the way! This arrest will lead to socialism!) So the next time you hear some businessperson talk about "free markets" remember what that really means. (Woman: We want our markets for free.)
