Charley: Um...mind if I join you...? Nina: Sure, as if the guys I meet aren't primitive enough -- now it's an actual ape-man! Charley: Hey, I resent that! I may be primitive, but I'm no macho chauvinist! Sexism is a MODERN phenomenon! Charley: Your misconception started when male-centric anthropologists of the early 60's based their models of early hominid societies on extant baboon troops, which consist of male-dominated harems! Charley: The CURRENT thinking is that australopithecine societies were more like CHIMPANZEE groups are -- EGALITARIAN!! Charley: Both sexes cooperated in child-rearing and resource gathering, and australopithecine males treated females with full respect as EQUALS! Nina: WOW! Tell me more! Charley: We also know what to say to the chicks!
