Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling Presents: NEWS OF THE TIMES Historical Flashback - December, 1941 Japan Bombs Pearl Harbor F.D.R. Calls Attack a "Hoax" Following Japan's air attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt refused to acknowledge the horror and monstrous consequence of the situation. FDR: This is a date that will live in infamy! Because it is the date that HATERS and LOSERS tried to make me look bad with this HOAX! Military experts urged a DECLARATION OF WAR and marshaling of all resources, but Roosevelt refused. FDR: 2,000 people died in the attack! Do you know how many people are killed in JITTERBUG ACCIDENTS each year? Emboldened by the United States' lack of response, Japan launched an invasion of California... I have a hunch this going to just go away. It's totally contained. FDR: Scotch tape this to every American's telephone! ...followed by a Nazi invasion of New York. MAKE AMERICA SWELL AGAIN FDR: This is only in TWO STATES! I like those numbers! In a couple of days it will be ZERO! As the invading forces gained ground, Roosevelt finally declared war! FDR: But I'm giving it a few weeks, tops! In one of his nightly fireside briefings, Roosevelt resisted his military's requests for war production! FDR: A few tanks and warplanes should be enough! Besides, some branches were very NASTY in the way they asked! Aide: You're so wise, Mr. President! Finally ~ FDR: Many people are saying this could have been much worse, and I'm giving myself a 10 out of 10! Can I do anything for you fellas? Round anyone up?
