Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling Presents: News of the Times Supreme Court Nominee Sending Mixed Messages Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito shocked onlookers when he arrived at a meeting with Senator Ted Kennedy (D. Mass.) with the words "I WILL OVERTURN ROE v. WADE" prominently tattooed on his face. Alito: What do you think of the new tat? Totally radical, right? After the meeting, Alito issued a statement. Alito: This tattoo, which was etched onto my face hours ago and still hurts like the Dickens, was a youthful indiscretion, and does not represent my current views. Sen. Kennedy seemed satisfied with the explanation. Kennedy: He assured me that he thinks of Roe v. Wade as super-prescedent, and the message on his face is...facetious! Republicans bristled at criticism. Republican: I suppose Democrats have some litmus test of what sort of tattoo a Supreme Court nominee should have on his face. But Alito quickly disavowed the tattoo that was revealed when a picture of him at a conservative conference in Scottsdale, Ariz., surfaced. Alito: THIS I had nothing to do with! I got drunk in Oaktown and woke up with it. I'M NOT KIDDING! ROE V. WADE IS GONE WHEN I'M ON THE SUPREME CT.! DON'T BELIEVE ME WHEN I DISAVOW THIS.
