Enjoy This Classic Tom The Dancing Bug Vintage 2006 Every Thursday Panels from the annals of the Tom the Dancing Bug archive Check back every Friday for a fresh, brand new Tom the Dancing Bug! Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling Larry Dodson An American Master Larry Dodson's meteoric rise to the top of the art world continues! Art critics found that his effortless style -- in fact, his lack of KNOWLEDGE that he was CREATING art -- lent his work a shining brilliance! Critic #1: I. Am. Not. Seeing. This... Critic #2: Yes! Dodson's latest work: a "Billy the Talking Bass" mounted on faux wood paneling over a La-Z-Boy chair! Larry: Carol, they're back! Get the bat! Gerhard Olivos Art Critician Gerhard: The whole art scene converged on Dodson. The late-night parties in his back yard are legendary. Of course, we had to be quiet -- if he'd found out we were there, he'd turn the hose on us. Amazing times... At first Dodson was ambivalent about his new art success. Larry: You'll pay HOW MUCH for my TV Guide?! Man: Unless you're insulted! Then I'll double that! But he soon learned to accept it. Earl Kolkenhoffer, Dodson's Supervisor at QQC Technologies Earl: So, Larry came in and said he was quitting so he could "do art." After he left, two weirdos scrambled in the window and started bidding on the I.D. he'd just turned in! The next few days, Dodson worked feverishly, turning his garage into a studio. And when he was done, he made his presentation to the gathered art impresarios. Larry: Uh, it's a collage of pictures of Vikings. See, here's Taylor... Critic: LOOK! Critic #2: Genius! The detritus that Dodson cleared from his garage and piled in his yard is now known as his masterpiece. Critic #1: It's an epic installation! Larry: Hey... Critic #2: How will we transport it to MoMa?!
