Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling Presents: News of the Times Historical Flashback December 8, 1941 Pearl Harbor Attacked The American Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii was devastated in a surprise aerial attack. President Franklin Roosevelt's response was swift. President Roosevelt: This is a date which will live in infamy. If only we knew who DID this. Oh, well. MBC CBS NBC President Roosevelt: hey, have you noticed that some Negro League ballplayers don't sufficiently respect the National Anthem? All military experts, intelligence officials, and eyewitnesses definitively assert it was JAPAN that attacked. Expert: For God's sake, it was JAPAN!! Bur Roosevelt is unconvinced. President Roosevelt: It could have been Japan, but it could have been England! It could have been some fat palooka on a bed in New Jersey! Some speculate that Roosevelt is reluctant to anger Japan because of a rumored visit to a geisha house years ago. And he may be in their debt because Japan sent out false telegrams to help him get re-elected. President Roosevelt: "Willkie runs a pedophile ring in a pizza restaurant. Stop." Woman: Huh? Congress has declared war on Japan, but President Roosevelt has refused to mobilize the military. President Roosevelt: The declaration of war is punishment enough. Experts agree Japan will strike again, but Roosevelt will do nothing. President Roosevelt: Hey, let's have a military parade for me! Works for that guy in Germany!
