Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling Presents: News of the Times Ailing Death Row Inmate Seeks Right To Die Christopher Minton, on death row for a crime he denies to have committed, was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Faced with a certain and painful death, he has requested a physician-assisted suicide, which was denied by the state. State Senator, Vernon Bellum: Vernon: We will not allow Minton to commit suicide -- we believe in the SANCTITY of life. Minton almost complicated the issue when he recently escaped from prison and was captured just in time... Guard: We're taking you back to death row! Even if Minton were to drop the appeal of his conviction, Gov. Francis Landers states he would then reconsider allowing the execution. Francis: We'd have to examine his motives to be sure it wasn't a TRICK to get us to kill him. In fact, at a recent hearing on that appeal, state lawyers voiced such suspicions to the court. Man: Your honor, Minton's counsel isn't even TRYING! They CLEARLY should have objected to my last statement! Vernon: A LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN can't get an assisted suicide -- why should a CONVICTED FELON?! I'm sick of the state CODDLING prisoners with extra advantages like giving 'em free cable T.V., and killing 'em and such.
