Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling Announcer: Looks like a rain delay, folks, so I'd like to pass the time by telling the infamous tale of... the 2002 Corporate All-Star Game Well, shareholders paid TOP DOLLAR to fill the corporate arena where C.E.O.s would SLUG IT OUT in the spirit of aggressive but fair competition. The game started great, as it looked like the shareholders were being treated to a spectacular SHOWCASE of BUSINESS EXCELLENCE. Looking back, there did seem to be some irregularities in strategy -- as though the game wasn't being played to WIN. But no one minded... ...it had been done this way in the past. And such a good time was being had. But in extra innings, when push came to shove, the C.E.O.s decided to admit that their self-serving short-term thinking would STOP THE GAME. Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen it is no longer in the interest of the C.E.O.s to continue play. Things got pretty ugly. Man In Blue: You thought this game was played for YOU?! Man In Gray: FOOLS! It's played to honor and enrich US! Man In Tan: We've got your money. Now go home. The game's leadership promised reform but you know how that goes! CORPORATE ALL-STAR RESPONSIB Man In Gray: I'm as angry at these guys as you are! Voice #1: Hey! He's wearing a GLOVE! Voice #2: Wasn't this guy playing third base in the early innings? END
