Gerald Ford's 895 day long presidency was the shortest in US history for any president who did not die in office. In medieval England, eels were used as currency, specifically for rental agreements. A decree issued by Pope Gregory IX in in 1233 raised superstitions about black cats, leading to mass extermination of the felines and possibly causing an increase in plague carrying rats!
