In 1901, Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres-Quevedo was responsible for the earliest developments in remote control technology with his Telekine that was able to do mechanical movements at distance. A single lightning bolt has enough electricity to light up 200,000 average homes- that's about 3 million volts! The word volt for electric potential is named after Italian physicist Alessandro Volta, who built the first electric battery in 1800!
