The bions that changed history! Inciting the masses after Charles Lindbergh's 1927 flight, Ripley penned that the aviator was the 67th man to make a nonstop flight over the Atlantic Ocean- purposely omitting the word solo! Oh say can you see... On November 3, 1929, Ripley published America has no national anthem, asserting The Star Spangled Banner was nothing more than an unofficial hymn sung to an old English drinking song. It took Congress 16 months to pass a one sentence bill for President Herbert Hoover to sign into law America's anthem- all thanks to Rip! Believe it or not, the 1918 cartoon that started it all- a panel of unbelievable athletic feats- was not called Believe It or Not!
