Transcript

The inventor of the polygraph machine married the first person he interrogated. In 1822, Canadian Alexis St. Martin was shot in the stomach and a botched surgery left him with a 6 inch hole in his side, allowing Dr. William Beaumont to learn the secrets of digestion by tying a silk string to pieces of food, inserting them through the hole St. Martin's stomach and later pulling them out to study. Headhunters operated in Europe well into the 20th century.
