The 18th century English pirate Edward Low would cut the ears and lips off rival captains and then roast and force-feed them their own body parts! Public dancing was banned in Elmore City, Oklahoma, until 1980- the town was the inspiration for the 1984 movie Footloose. The International Potato Center in Peru, the country where potatoes originated, contains thousands of different varieties of potatoes preserved for future generations.
