The Speakes Road to Ruin: A Success Story. Leaves position as White House spokesman for big-money job with New York stock firm. Hacks out kiss & tell book boasting of inventing President's quotes. Man: We deeply regret your resignation. Larry Speakes: It's best for both of us... Soon after his book appears he decides to leave the stock firm. Homeless, he attempts to join the street people. Rejected as undesirable. Larry Speakes: You love it, right? He sinks into advertising but is fired for faking quotes for dog food... Woman: Come on, Henry - you're not buying a used car from that man! Then fails as a used-car salesman. Returning to Washington, he thrives again as a highly respected small businessman.
