Ordinary Basil. Basil and Louise were led down the ornate corridors of the Odian palace. "Velcome," Eurika said, "to our home." Incredible artifacts from ancient civilizations were everywhere. "This," Basil said, awestruck, "must be what Heaven looks like!" "No matter how beautiful ze gilding is on a cage," Eurika replied, "--it is still a cage." Louise's mind swirled with questions. "So why did the Odians disappear from Helios?" Eurika studied the girl's face as she pondered how much to reveal. "Ven my ancestors found zis cavern, zey discovered zat ze crystals captured ze sun's unlimited power!" "At first," she continued, "zey saw only its potential for good. But soon it became clear zat zis fantastic force could be corruptive." Eurika shook her head slowly. "Domination is seductive." "It vas decided," Eurika sighed, "mankind couldn't be trusted to use zis gift wisely. Ve erased every trace of our civilization and vent into exile here.
