Caption: Nancy debuted in the comic strip Fritzi Ritz by Ernie Bushmiller in 1933. Fritzi adopted her orphaned niece, who soon became the star. The strip's name changed to Nancy in 1938. We're ringing in the New Year with the history of Nancy! Nancy: Sluggo never was much on manners---But he knows how to make himself at home---Anywhere--- Aunt Fritzi: Nancy---That little ruffian's helping himself to our entire kitchen--- Nancy: I told Sluggo to make himself at home. He's a nice boy, Aunt Fritzi---He just doesn't have any manners. Aunt Fritzi: Would you like some hot cocoa beforeyou LEAVE, Sluggo? Sluggo: NAW---Dat cocoa keeps me awake--- This couch is so comfy I think I'll just bunk down here tonight---
