Caption: Nancy debuted in the comic strip Fritzi Ritz by Ernie Bushmiller in 1933. Fritzi adopted her orphaned niece, who soon became the star. The strip's name changed to Nancy in 1938. We're ringing in the New Year with the history of Nancy! Nancy: When we got to Holly-wood---A famous director, Mr. Sizzle, accidentally bumped into our car---Was this going to be Aunt Fritzi's big "show-biz" break? Aunt Fritzi: Forget the car, Mr. Sizzle---Please give me a chance in one of your pictures---Please? Man: Hmm---You might not be too bad at that---Okay---I'll give you a screen test. Aunt Fritzi: REALLY? Man: I said "screen test"---NOT SCREAM test".
