Nancy debuted in the comic strip Fritzi Ritz by Ernie Bushmiller in 1933. Fritzi adopted her orphaned niece, who soon became the star. The strip's name changed to Nancy in 1938. We're ringing in the New Year with the history of Nancy! Nancy says, "Aunt Fritzi wasn't very impressed with Sluggo at first---" Nancy says, "Aunt Fritzi meet my new friend---'Sluggo' Smith---" Sluggo says, "Hi'ya lady---nice li'l joint ya got here---" Aunt Fritzi says, "Nancy---where'd you meet that little hooligan?" Nancy says, "He beat up a bully who hit me with a snowball---isn't he divine?" Sluggo says, "Beatin' up bullies gives a guy a big appetite---What's for supper, ladies?"
