Nancy debuted in the comic strip Fritzi Ritz by Ernie Bushmiller in 1933. Fritzi adopted her orphaned niece, who soon became the star. The strip's named changed to Nancy in 1938. We're ringing in the New Year with the history of Nancy! Nancy says, "Aunt Fritzi took her screen test---and we waited breathlessly for the studio's decision---" Aunt Fritzi says, "Golly---The studio didn't like my screen test??" Man says, "Now-don't feel too bad about it, Miss Ritz---You'll get a break yet" Aunt Fritzi says, "Gee, Nancy---I guess movie stardom just isn't in our cards" man says, "Oh---By the way---we need a little girl like her for our new picture---"
