Grotius, huge:1583-1645. Dutch humanist and jurior. His concerning the law of war and peace (1625) is considered the first definitive text on intersectional law. Grotius believe that natural law prescribes rules of conduct for nations as well as for individuals. While not condeming all war, grotius argued that only certain causes justified it and he promoted the idea of more human warfare. Luann: In social studies, we're doing a unit on family history, and guess what-our family, DeGroot, has a famous ancestor named Hugo Grotius! Brad: Yeah.
