FRAZZ BY JEF MALLETT Caulfield: I love that the whole cleanliness-is-next-to-Godliness thing goes back to 50 years before doctors started washing their hands. Frazz: It gets better. Caulfield: Oh, please go on. Frazz: When the good reverend John Wesley sermonized that sentiment, he himself didn't exactly smell of Irish Spring. Frazz: People obviously wouldn't have showered much in the 1700s. Nor bathed. They didn't even like to get wet. Caulfield: Then what was Wesley talking about? Frazz: What's it leave? Caulfield: Dishes, carpet and laundry. Frazz: And you've seen paintings of the Gods. Caulfield: Those togas are some pretty white whites.
