FRAZZ BY JEF MALLETT Girl: I got a Valentimes pendant! Mrs. Olsen: No, you didn't. There is no Valentimes Day. It's ValenTINE's Day. Valentine was a Roman priest under Claudius II. Claudius needed an army, and married men weren't inclined to leave their families. Claudius figured the solution was to forbid marriage. Valentine thought that was a dumb idea, so he secretly performed the banned rites. Defying emperors is another bad idea, and Valentine was martyred and later sainted. There are other versions, but it's always Valentine. Never Valentimes. Girl: I got a Valentine's pendant. Frazz: Yes, you did.
