Caulfield: I'm bored. Frazz: Cool! Caulfield: Cool? Frazz: When I was a kid, I got stuck waiting in my dad's office a lot. So I read. I learned the guitar. That's where I started writing songs. I'm glad I was bored. Caulfield: So boredom is good? Frazz: It used to be. Now I don't know. Caulfield: Shopping malls galore! Frazz: Now we have video games. Tiny stereos with earbuds. Caulfield: Instant messaging. Computer solitaire. Frazz: A thousand channels of not much. Caulfield: We've conquered boredom! Frazz: No. We've made it possible to be bored to death without knowing it. Caulfield: How boring is it to get nostalgic about boredom? Frazz: It doesn't feel so constructive while it's happening.
