Deflocked by Jeff Corriveau Mamet: I need to pick the right kind of flower to give to my date tonight, because I don't want to send the wrong message. Mamet: A daffodil says "You're the only one," but that comes off as a little desperate. Mamet: A gladiolus means "Infatuation," but I don't want her to think I'm making a fat joke. Cobb: Not what "infatuation" means, but go ahead. Mamet: And forget red rose -- which mean "true love." Mommy says those can only be given to mommies. Mamet: White lillies, which mean "purity," are a no-go, because AHEM she listens to the rock n' roll. Mamet: And then there's the yellow carnation, which means "rejection." That's usually what chicks give ME. Cobb: You're overthinking this, Mamet. Just give her a flower that reflects your personality and what you expect from the relationship. Woman: A Venus flytrap? SNAP! Mamet: Order to share. He's a little peckish.
