Ok, so I'm making a list of all the things I need from life in order to be happy. Sigh c'mere, Mamet, I want to show you something. See that old man over there? Every day he comes down to the brook and feeds ducks. He spends his whole day on that grassy knoll, communing with nature. He has no list. He asks not, why me? Why me? Because he truly has found peace in his life... All I see is a geezer with smokers cough. Ok, Mamet, follow me. Excuse me-- sir? We've noticed how much you seem to be enjoying life. Could you tell my friend here the secret to happiness? Sure... Appreciate what you have. There. See? Because life is a cruel mistress. And she'll rob you like a one eyed hobo at a marble tournament. I had friends. Family. Money. But they all abandoned me after the bank fraud charges. Now I spend my days shredding sensitive documents into this forever. By day I hide from the helicopters under this bridge. At night, I sleep on a mattress made of hopelessness and tears. Wanna see my 401K? It's an old tube sock full of wind. Why me? Why me? Ok, but he was very optimistic about trapping dinner tonight. Item #1: hire a good lawyer.
