Roland: Hope I can get through this... the loss is still so bitter and personal! I must tell you that I didn't have any advantages in the race to cover Katrina - none! I didn't have Geraldo's shamelessness or Anderson Cooper's novelty hair. And I didn't carry a case of cocktail wieners like Brian Williams to trade for my life! All I had was the story. I owned it, and it owned me, and when my camera crew was finally pulled out, I stayed and covered it with my bare hands! So how do I feel on the 13-month anniversary of my Katrina coverage? Like the victims themselves, I still feel pain. I still feel a deep loss over... over... *choke* Sorry... Voice: Take your time... over what? Roland: C'mon, everyone knows I was shafted at the Emmys.... Voice: Oh, right. How devastating was that? Did you feel like giving up?
