Joanie: Look at those people! Would Dr. King have been caught dead in a stained t-shirt? TV: Bush lied! Bush lied! Cindy doesn't speak for us! Joanie: Have they no pride? Jeff: About what, mom? Joanie: How they dress! You know, during the civil rights era, most demonstrators wore suits and dresses. It conveyed respectability and seriousness. But ever since Vietnam, everyone - protestors, counter-protestors, conservative or liberal - they all dress like slobs! Jeff: Mom, are you serious? It's hot, it's outdoors, and the average person no longer relates to wearing suits! Besides, if the protest turns violent, you want to be dressed to rock and...oh, my god. Joanie: What? Jeff: Okay, so that chick cover up. Joanie: A simple dress code. Would it kill us? Jeff: Her friend's hot, though.
