IRS auditor: Mrs. Reagan, are you familiar with this diamond and emerald earring? Nancy Reagan: I've never seen it before in my life! Auditor: Look more closely, please. Nancy Reagan: Okay, I may have worn it on May 3, 1985. Auditor: And do you know which designer lent you this beaded chiffon gown, Mrs. Reagan? Nancy Reagan: What possible difference could it make? I've already admitted I broke my own little rules! Auditor: You see, ma'am, the $1 million worth of gowns you "borrowed" are worthless once you've worn them. You've enjoyed their full value. That's how haute couture works. Nancy Reagan: Excuse me, but I don't need some tacky tax auditor to tell me about haute couture! I covered all this in my book! The only people who really care about my borrowing dresses are dumpy little size 10's who can't stand a woman who wears size 4! Auditor: Um...Well actually, Ma'am, we're both 42's. Auditor #2: I'm 42 long. Can we get back to the beaded jobbie?
