Mark: "Coming up: the mellow bulletin board...but first the results of the Bloomingdale's/Calvin Klein Pro-Am 20 km ten-speed Perrier classic...." Few guests of WBBY inspire more awe in our listening audience than Dr. Dan Ahser, author of "The Mellow Parent." Tonight he's back with us to discuss his chapter on education...doctor, a lot of upscale parents are torn on the subject of whether to send their kids to a private or public school. Where do you come down on this tricky question? Dan: Well, basically Mark, I'm very pro-prep. Some mellow parents will try to tell you that they don't want their children to grow up with just other privilaged kids, that they want them to have friends from all walks of life. Nothing could be more absurd. As president Reagan himself has so dramatically demonstrated, there's no point in growing up with the great unwashed if you have no intention of ever associating with them again! Most preppies will never have to interact with the disadvantaged, except those in service positions. So why force them to rub shoulders during their childhoods? Basically, it's terribly irrelevant! Mark: Being exposed to the poor is irrelevant? Dan: Right, it's like having to take Latin.
