"Scotty, thanks for sending on your new manuscript. It's a fine book. A splendid read. My only quarrel is with your title, 'Tender is the Night.' Can't you come up with something more manly?" Dear Dad, Hold on to your suspenders, it's an actual letter from your son... I know it's been a while since you've heard from me but I've recently been reading the letter of Ernest Hemingway for an American Literature course adn I got inspired. Hemingway said the only reason he wrote letters was to get letter back but I think there are other reasons. In an age of too short communication, writing offers an opportunity to collect one's thoughts. Too infrequently we take the time to shrug of our indifference and give expression to our failings in some thoughtful and composed fashion. This lette is a first made effort personal reform. Life here at school proceeds apace. Yesterday, I had a small accident with my marborial that resulted in a $300 repair biill. If you could help me out here I promise to repay you at the end of the summer. Well, gotta go, Your loving son, Mark.
