Senator: Moving right along, General, we find that another of your celebrated "missions" was delivering to the FBI Mr. Kissinger's requests for wiretaps on his own staff... may I assume, General, this is just one more stain of which you are actually proud? Alexander Haig: You may, Senator. We were faced with a security crisis. Our operations were being compromised, so anyone in a position to know about the secret bombings in Cambodia was suspect. My only regret is we failed to find any of the traitors. Senator: Maybe it was leaked by the victims. Haig: Well, we thought of that, but we had no legal authority to place taps in Cambodia.
