Born in Oakland, California, on September 1, 1996, the youngest of six children, Zendaya Maree Stoemer Coleman overcame crippling shyness as a young child to perform in a dance group and appear in theater productions. By her early teens, she was a fashion model for the likes of Macy's and Old Navy, was a veteran of TV commercials and had landed the role of Rocky Blue, on the Disney Channel show "Shake It Up." The songs she performed on the show launched her recording career. She starred in the TV movies "Frenemies" and "Zapped" and, at 16, was the youngest ever contestant to that point on "Dancing With The Stars." The following year, she was cast as a teenage spy in K.C, Cooper on the Disney Channel comedy "K.C. Undercover" Mattel honored Zendaya with her own Barbie. replicating her look at the Academy Awards. In 2017, she debuted as Michelle aka MJ in the movie "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and appeared in "The Greatest Showman" She has voiced characters for animation, including a roll in next months "Space Jam: A New Legacy" Zendaya guested on three episodes of the Netflix Supernatural sci-fi drama "The OA" she reprised the MJ role in 2019's "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and will return as the character later this year in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." The teen star was laid to rest when she starred in the controversial HBO drama series "Euphoria" a role that earned her a primetime Emmy- and the movie "Malcolm & Marie" later this year, Zendaya will be seen in the eagerly anticipated sci-fi epic "Dune."
