Born Yeun Sang-Yeop in Seol, South Korea, on December 2, 1983, he moved to Saskatchewan with the family when he was 4 years old, eventually settling in Troy, Michigan, his parents began calling him Steven after meeting a doctor with that name! He graduated from Kalamazoo college with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a concentration in Neuroscience and a taste for improv and acting. His parents agreed to let him postpone med school for a couple of years to pursue his passion. Moving to Chicago, he joined an asian-americas sketch comedy group called Stir Friday Night, later joining The Second City improv group. HE moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and, after appearing in a handful of tv commercials, was cast in a small role on "The Big Bang Theory" after less than six months on the west coast. He landed his big break- the starring role of Glenn Rhee on "The Walking Dead." it quickly became the highest-rated series in cable tv television history, and Steven was a mainstay until his character was killed off at the start of the seventh season. Subsequent movie credits included "Okja" "Mayhem" and "Sorry To Bother You" and he has been much in demand for voice work in animated movies and TV. After receiving awards and plaudits for his work on the South Korean thriller "Burning" Steven received a best actor Academy Award nomination for his role in the acclaimed "Minari."
