Ralph Macchio Born on November 4, 1961, in Huntington, New York, to parents of Greek and Italian origin, Ralph Macchio was discovered by a casting agent when he was 16 years old. He played Jeremy Andretti on the sitcom "Eight is Enough" before landing the role of Johnny Cade in the movie "The Outsiders" in a cast that included C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, and Emilio Estevez. That led to his casting as Daniel Larusso in the 1984 hit "The Karate Kid." The movie spawned two sequels and is credited with popularizing karate in the United States. Numerous movie roles followed, and he also enjoyed success in an off-broadway production of "Cuba and His Teddy Bear." with Robert De Niro. 1992 saw him star opposite Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei in "My Cousin Vinny." Four year later, he put his childhood dance training to good use, starring in the lead of the stage musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." That training helped again when he appeared as a constant on "Dancing With the Stars" in 2011, finishing fourth. Following a recurring role on the series "Ugly Betty" he played jaded vice cop officer Haddix on the HBO series "The Deuce." Movie projects flew below the radar, although he did appear in the stellar cast of 2012's "Hitchcock." In 2018, he reprised his most famous role, starring as Daniel Larusso in the streaming series "Cobra Kai" the show, which is set three decades, after the Karate Kid reunited many of the original cast, it was picked up by the Netflix and has became a huge cult hit!
