When Sally Rooney's sophomore novel "Normal People" was published in 2018, the irish author was hailed as the "voice of a generation" and the first great millennial novelist. Critically lauded, the book was an instant best-seller and was feted with multiple awards. The TV adaptation, featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal as star-crossed lovers. Marianne and Connell debuted on Hulu in April and has met with similar universalacclaim and sky-high ratings. Audiences have fallen in love with the two young stars. Paul Mescal's instagram page jumped from 5,000 followers to 210,000 in less than a week! The show will undoubtedly feature prominently in awards season, and both actors seem destined for great things. Daughter of a television executive Dad and TV editor mother Daisy Edgar-Jones was born in London on May 24, 1998. Having first acted in school plays, she was accepted into the prestigous national youth theatre at the age of 15. Spotted and signed by an agent, she began auditioning for professional, roles when she was 16. At 14, after appearing on an episode of a sitcom called "Outnumbered." She was cast in a recurring role on the long-running British tv drama "Cold feet." Subsequent credits included two episodes of the crime drama series "Silent Witness" the indie film "Pond Life" and a national youth theatre production of "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" on the London stage. In 2019, she appeared in two episodes of the HBO series "Gentleman Jack" and took a leading role in the recent tv production of War of the Worlds. The media buzz created by "Normal People" has been immense. Through the global pandemic kept Daisy and Paul doing the rounds on U.S. tv prompting The Hollywood Reporter to remark that the fast-raising star has been having her Big Hollywood Break from the confines of her London flat.
