Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 29, 1964, Don Cheadle lived in a number of cities around the country as a child. In high school in Denver, he played Saxophone in the jazz band, sang in the choir, and was active in the theater department. He went on to attend the California Institute of the arts, graduating with a BFA in theater in 1986. Early tv roles included "Fame" "L.A. Law" "Hill Street Blues" and "Night Court" and he appeared in a number of movies, including "Hamburger Hill" and "Colors" in 1992, he landed a regular role on the sitcom "The Golden Palace," a spin-off of the hit series "The Gilden Girls" The 1995 movie "Devil In A Blue Dress" brought Don awards acclaim. As did the likes of TV's Picket Fences." a lesson before dying, "Things Behind The sun," "ER" and "The Pack Rat" in which he played Sammy Davis Jr. He played Basher Tarr in 2001's "Ocean Eleven" and a role he has reprised in two sequels to date- and he earned an Academy award nomination for the 2004 drama "Hotel Rwanda" that same year, he appeared in the ensemble cast of "Crash" since 2010's "Iron Man 2." He has starred as James Rhodes/War Machine in the Marvel cinematic Universe movies 2015 saw him star as jazz great Miles Davis in "Miles Ahead" a labor of love that he spent 10 years writing and producing. Having starred for four years on the showtime series "House of Lies" a role that earned him a Golden Globe- Cheadle currently stars on showtime's "Black Monday" the second season of which resumes this weekend. A committed champion of humanitarian and environmental causes, he has received numerous honorsfor his activism.
