Taylor Kitsch was born in Kelowna, British Columbia on April 8, 1981, he looked set to become a professional hockey player- he played for the Langley Hornets in the british columbia Hockey League- until a knee injury ended his career prospects. He moved to New York in 2002 to pursue modeling opportunities, appearing in ads for Abercrombie & Fitch and Diesel. He also became certified as a personal trainer and nutrionist while taking acting classes. In 2006, he appeared in the TV shows "Godiva's" and "Kyle XY" had minor roles in movies "John Tucker Must Die" and "Snakes On A Plane" and enjoyed a featured role in the supernatural thriller "The Covenant." Next up was a major role on the Network TV series "Friday Night Lights" playing Football star Tim Riggins. Between seasons, he found time to film movie "Gospel Hill" and landed the high-profile role of Gambit". a cajun thief with superhuman powers. In 2009's box-office smash "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" the following year, he starred in "The Bang Bang Club" a movie set in South Africa during the final days of Apartheid. 2002 saw him take the lead in the sci-fi thrillers "John Carter" and "Battleship" and the crime drama "Savages" Subsequent credits included supporting roles in "Lone Survivor" "American Assassin," "Only The Brave" and "21 Bridges" he followed a role in the tv movie "The Normal Heart" with a starring role inthe second season of "True Detective." Taylor- who can currently be seen on Netflix playing doomed cut leader David Koresh on the miniseries "Waco" will return to the small screen later this year in the thriller series "Shadowplay."
