Born on February 11, 1971, the grandson of a former Lord Mayor of London, Damian Lewis attended Eton, the historic boarding school famed for educating aristocrats and royals. After graduating from the Guildhall school of music and drama in 1993, he launched his acting career with the royal Shakespeare company. British stage and tv work followed before his performance as Laertes in a Broadway production of "Hamlet" impressed Steven Spielberg. Who cast him in the tv series "Band of Brothers." The role required him to adopt an American accent, a talent that has subsequently served him well. Lewis portrayed Soames Forsyte in the British tv series "The Forsyte Saga," Before turning to the states to star in the movies "Dreamcatcher" and "Keane." He continued to rack up film, tv and stage credits on both sides of the Atlantic before landing the lead on the NBC crime drama "Life" in 2007, the same year he married "Peaky Blinders" actress Helen McRory. In 2011, he was cast as Gunnery Sergeant Nicholas Brody, opposite Claire Danes as a CIA officer Carrie Mathison, on the Showtime series "Homeland." He stayed with the show for three seasons, the role earning him an Emmy and a Golden Globe. In 2015, Damian teamed up with Nicole Kidman in Werner Herzog's "Queen Of The Desert" and starred as King Henry VIII of Englandon the miniseries "Wolf Hall" since 2016 he has played Bobby Axelrod on the hit Showtime series "Billions" last year he portrayed Steve McQueen in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" and his latest movie "Dream Horse" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
