Julian Fernando Casablancas was born in New York on August 23, 1978, the son of the founder of the elite model agency and a former Miss Denmark. He was educated at a series of exclusive private schools. Including the prestigious Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland, which is where he met Albert Hammond Jr. The son of a successful singer-songwriter. The pair reconnected when Albert moved to New York to attend film school. Soon, Julian and Albert were sharing an apartment and playing together in a group alongside Nick Valensi, Nikolai Fraiture and Fab Moretti. The Strokes quickly became one of the hottest bands on the New York club scene, and their 2001, E.P. "The Modern Age" ignited a bidding frenzy, among major record labels. The debut album, "Is This It," was released in late 2001. Singles such as "Last Nite" constant tourig and intense media coverage made The Strokes stars. A second album "Room On Fire" was released in late 2003 and was followed by "First Impressions Of Earth" in 2006. A legnthy hiatus and various individual projects meant that it was another five years before the release of the "Angles" album, which was followed by 2013's "Comedown Machine." Although the band has periodically come together to perform, this month's eagerly anticipated "The New Abnormal" is the group's first album in seven years!
