Ashley Nicolette Frangpane, born in Edison, New Jersey, on September 29, 1994, had been enrolled in six different schools by her teens, as the family frequently moved to find work. A troubled teen, she was diagnosed as bipolar after attempting to harm herself. She was accepted into Rhode Island School of design but withdrew due to financial hardship and enrolled in community college instead. After she began writing songs and posting them online, she landed a record deal, taking the stage name Halsey. She toured with The Kooks and then Imagine Dragons and released a well-received E.P. her debut album, "Badlands" was released in August 2015 and debuted at No. 2 on the album charts boosted by her support slot on The Weekend's fall tour, the album was certified platinum. "Closer" her collaboration with The Chainsmokers, took her to the top of the Billboard charts in 2016. She was ever-present on the airwaves in 2017 with the hit singles "Bad At Love" and her duet with G-Eazy "Him and I." "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom" her second album, debuted at No. 1, and she topped the singles chart with "Without Me." She has enjoyed success teaming up with a number of artists, including BTS on the top 10 hit "Boy With Luv" released earlier this year, her third album "Manic," reached No. 2.
