Born Onika Tanya Maraj on December 8, 1982, in Saint James Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Nicki Minaj was raised in Jamaica, Queens New York, from the age of 5, she studied drama at Manhattan's Fiorello H. Laguardia high school of music and art- the performing arts school that inspired the movie "Fame" and was a member of the developing artists theater company. Nicki was discovered on Mysoace by Dirty Money Records CEP Fendi, and this led to her singing to Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainement label. Following three well received mixtapes, she went Supernova in 2010, appearing on singles with a host of stars, including Usher, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera,, Drake, Kanye West and Rihanna. Her debut album "Pink Friday" went triple platinum and topped the charts, helping earn her a slew of awards, and she made history as the first artist have seven songs on Billboard's Hot 100 simultaneously! Her second album 2012's "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" debuted at No. 1, in a number of countries. Her third album 2014's "Pinkprint" gave her the Np. 2 single Anaconda, her highest placed U.S. single so far. In 2013, she was a judge on the twelfth season of "American Idol" having made her movie debut in 2012's animated "Ice Age: Continental Drift" she appeared in "The Other Woman" "Barbershop: The Next Cut" and "The Angry Birds Movie 2" She has created a business empire, including multiple product endorsements, her own fragrance line, and partnerships and collaborations with numerous high-end companies. The most successful female rapper, she has 106 billboard hot 100 entries to date, a record for a female artist.
